The Christian Education Leadership Program was developed under the National Baptist Convention (NBC), USA, Inc. and operates today under the oversight of the Sunday School Publishing Board (SSPB). Through its hierarchical structure, curricula, materials and qualified personalities, the SSPB has structured the Christian Education Leadership Programs to assist the churches in addressing the challenges that face “this present age.”

The New Zion Hill Christian Leadership School is accredited through the SSPB and must follow stringent guidelines that cover all aspects of the operation of the school. All instructors must complete the Certificate of Progress Program (COPP) – Phase I, the Pastor’s Alternative for Teacher Certification (PATC), or college transcript evaluation. In addition, instructors must be a Christian, demonstrate an understanding of how to teach, know how to follow instructions of the SSPB, and demonstrate an understanding of the subject matter they are to teach. Instructors for schools throughout the National Baptist Convention (NBC), USA, Inc. meet the same qualifications.

Through this process, each student can and will receive quality educational experiences that enhance and encourage Christian growth at the local level. Additionally, students receive a certificate of completion at the end of each class. These classes can be used by students toward the completion of the Certificate of Progress Program for their personal growth or for teaching certification in the CLS.

All persons holding leadership positions in the church are strongly encouraged to attend CLS classes, related workshops and conferences offered by the SSPB and the NBC USA, Inc.
